Authentic Relating Games

Parts / Voices Game

A participant speaks from different inner parts, voices or impulses in real time. Instead of presenting one fixed self, they reveal the tensions that are actually alive.

Parts / Voices Game

A simple sample of what this game can sound like in practice.

Person A

One part of me wants to be fully seen and another part wants to disappear.

Person B

Good. Let the part that wants to disappear speak first.

Person A shifts to speak directly from the part that wants to hide.

Person A

That part says: if I show too much, I will be overwhelmed.

Person B

Stay with that voice for one more breath.

Person B invites the second voice.

Person B

And what does the part that wants to be seen say?

Person A

It says: I am tired of hiding and I want contact even if it is risky.

Person B moves toward integration.

Person B

What becomes clearer now that both voices were heard?

Person A

I feel less confused. The tension is still here, but it is no longer hidden.

Set up

Introduce the game as a structured way to let inner multiplicity become visible. Participants do not need to resolve the parts; they only need to let them speak distinctly.

A simple flow

  1. A participant names a live inner conflict or tension.
  2. The facilitator invites one part to speak fully in the first person, giving it clean space and language.
  3. Then they clearly shift to another part and let that voice speak distinctly rather than blending them together.
  4. Close by naming what became clearer, what remains unresolved, and what support is needed now.

Prompts to use

  • “A part of me says…”
  • “Another voice in me wants…”
  • “What changes when this part is fully heard?”

What to watch for

  • Talking about parts instead of speaking from them.
  • Collapsing back into commentary before a part has finished speaking.
  • Letting the exercise become destabilizing without enough grounding.

Good variations

  • Place different voices in different chairs or physical positions to strengthen differentiation.
  • Invite a witnessing partner to reflect the qualities of each part without trying to fix them.
